Our Mission
Our Vision
Science has shown the power that pets hold in our society in countless areas. Whether it's through a K-9 police dog, an emotional support cat, or even just a trail ride with a horse you've never met, animals have the power to change our lives. We believe that in this relationship, the support goes both ways. Our beloved pets do so much to make our lives better, therefore, we owe it to them to do the same.
How We Make a Difference
Furthering our cause is the most important goal of our organization. We seek to support, and empower individuals to use their love of animals to help make a difference. Further, we want to inspire these individuals to gain confidence through working with animals with the goal of this confidence pushing them to spread the cause to other around them.
Projects
Power-of-pets.org has hosted several events of "Rescue Roundup" created by the organization's founder, Sophie Kruse, in 2018. At the volunteer event, participants made 'K9 care kits' to donate to local dog rescues. Each kit included a handmade dog toy, a decorated bandanna, several treats, and an adoption card. Since the event's creation, over 4,100 kits have been made and over $3,000 have been donated to shelters in the Northern Colorado area.
Powerofpets.org also recognizes how a relationship with animals can develop confidence in young children. With close ties to the 4-H program, learning to train animals like dogs, goats, and horses can be a very daunting task. However, when a child finally achieves their training goals it is a major confidence boost, an emotional asset they will carry with them for the rest of their lives.
Learning
Education is one of the easiest ways to understand the power of pets. Through researching scientific articles to reading the blogs published on this website, the rabbit hole of learning about what pets can do for you is endless.
Learning doesn't just pertain to education. There are many ways to learn about getting involved with animals to help you experience the power of pets in a more hands on context. Check out our "what you can do" page for some inspiration!
